Astrology: Understanding Your Chiron Sign
Spirituality, astrology
My Story
Earlier last week, I have been feeling a lot of triggers from my shadow side.
Honestly, it was a lot of reminders about my relationship with my self- worth, self-confidence and a fear of rejection and judgment towards my expression of creativity and financial situation. And it was tough. These exact woundings I have gotten there are my Leo Chiron in my 2nd House. In today’s post, we will be discussing yet another exciting topic of Astrology and I can’t wait to share it with you.
It was only in the recent months in my business course that I have actually discovered my Chiron placement in my natal chart- and it was one of the most profound and fascinating discoveries- and I hope it will be for you too at the end of this article.
The Chiron placement is usually one of the first few signs I look at when I read my friend’s natal chart It is also in my opinion, one of the most important placements to look at. In our last post, we navigated our life purpose and karmic past with our natal Lunar Nodes. And as usual, my articles are meant to serve as a self-discovery tool for anyone with an interest in understanding more about Astrology by themselves and my words are not a substitute for a reading with a professional Astrologer.

our Chiron sign
Each of us has a Chiron sign. Each of us has a wounding.
Our Chiron sign is often referred astrologically as the area in our life where we have experienced our deepest woundings aka our shadow side. By learning about it and accepting it through self-love, compassion and understanding, we are able to undertake this healing journey ourselves and transform them into a gift to help others heal too.
I personally relate our Chiron sign to our Inner Child woundings that we received as a child. Our Chiron reflects the areas in our life where we experience hypersensitivities because of experiences that we have undergone from the moment we were born till around the age of 18 months. This hypersensitivity is an energetic reaction stemming from your childhood either from your parents or caregivers. This wounding is a rejection at a young age and other future Chiron-ic triggers/woundings are echoes or re-representation of that original wounding. It could be something that you did or didn’t do when you were younger that was disapproved/condemned or when you felt slighted/unloved- regardless intentionally or unintentionally. The exact placement of our Chiron reflects this energetic reaction and may show insights on them for you.
This wounding has become ingrained in our sub-conscious that we are conditioned to believe this unworthiness in ourselves. Most of us do not remember the exact wounding since we were so young, but we may remember the subsequent triggers/woundings when we are older.
One can view our Chiron as an energetic sensitivity, teaching us to re-parent ourselves in ways that were not present or possible in the past. By understanding our Chiron sign, you may find familiarity in understanding a facet of yourself often ignored/ un-addressed or suppressed; a wounding that so often, or occasionally creeping up and reminding you to love and accept yourself again.

Chiron in astrology
Classified as a comet/minor planet, Chiron is often also referred to as an asteroid that is caught up by Sun’s gravitational force. Chiron was only discovered recently by astrologers in 1977. It was found orbiting between the outer planets of Saturn and Uranus and is known as the “rainbow bridge between the spiritual and material realm”.
Chiron takes 50 – 51 years to travel through the 12 signs of the zodiac. However, because of its highly irregular orbit, Chiron spends different duration in each sign. Chiron spends the most years in Aries (approximately 8 years) and the least in Libra (1.5 – 2 years). On a collective level, Chiron is currently in Aries from 2018 to 2027 which also means that anyone born between these dates has a Chiron in Aries. You are able to find out your Chiron sign below.

interpreting our Chiron sign
As most are aware, we have 12 astrological signs and 12 houses. It is important to consider our astrological sign as well as our house when we look at the signs of our Chiron Sign.
Think of your sign (I’m a Chiron in LEO: Leo is my sign) through which the energy and motivation of Chiron work. The sign in which Chiron is found in your chart indicates how your Chiron expresses itself. It will also represent the way you may act in your life so that you do not trigger the value of unworthiness/ rejection in you.
Think of your house through which you show up as differently and also the area of your life where the woundings were experienced. The original wound is always about things that have to do with parts of life associated with this house. You will notice a lot of triggers surrounding this house in aspect to your emotional life. There will also be a habitual tendency to avoid confronting it and yet feel hypersensitive towards this area of your life.
Below are the steps for interpreting your Chiron Sign:
(For beginner-friendly sake, we will only be looking just at the sign and house of Chiron and not Chiron in aspects to other planets)
Begin by checking your natal chart here. Do note, you will need your date of birth and birth time for accuracy.
The chart you just saw is your natal chart. Before becoming too overwhelmed, look out for the Chiron sign with the glyph that looks like a key with a “k” on top. Take note of the sign it is on.
Click on the tab “Additional Tables” which is above the chart. And another diagram should appear.
Scroll down on the first column and find Chiron again.
Across the Chiron’s row, write down the sign and the house all on a piece of paper.
Ellie Mae Astrology made a beautiful compilation of what the Chiron in each house/sign is over here. You want to pay attention and read both YOUR house and YOUR sign in Chiron. She also explained perfectly how you can begin to accept your wounding and how your mastery of it can help others too.
If you prefer to listen and watch, Tom Jacob, an evolutionary astrologer described each house perfectly in each video. I loved his interpretation of them and it highly resonated with me.
Chiron in 1st House, Chiron in 2nd House, Chiron in 3rd House, Chiron in 4th House, Chiron in 5th House, Chiron in 6th House, Chiron in 7th House, Chiron in 8th House, Chiron in 9th House, Chiron in 10th House, Chiron in 11th House, Chiron in 12th House
Did you resonate with your Chiron?
What I love about Astrology is that it is a beautiful self-discovery tool. Astrology does not predict anything for you but basically mirrors the truths that are in you all along. It allows you to embrace your unique energetic imprint compassionately and furthermore, reminds you of how you can serve in this world. It is completely normal to feel overwhelmed when you learn and understand more about yourself. Sometimes we seek to understand others or others to understand us before we truly understand ourselves.
When I was 13/14 I had a severe Idiopathic Scoliosis, a condition where the curvature of my spine was so detriment that I would require surgery. During the years before my surgery at 16, I would have to wear an acrylic back brace underneath my clothes for up to 18 hours a day. The brace was meant to keep my posture upright and combat the deterioration of my spine. In school, I was a member of the Track and Field Team and in Police Corp. I remember standing under the tropical heat, perspiring under my back brace. I would always look forward for track sessions because it will be the only time I did not have to wear my back brace. However, I also remember being taunted as the girl who would run sideways on the field. My self-confidence and self-worth then were very low. The surgery when I was 16 changed my life. I remember being in the most tremendous pain that no 16 years old should ever feel. In no way did the surgery made my spine fully aligned, but it made me “straighter”. I no longer run/stand sideways now. When the surgery was over, I could finally be confident wearing a bikini- and I never looked back. Ever since then, I have done and lived more than most people do.
This is one of a “future” experience that triggered the hypersensitivity of my Chiron’s wounding since I was a child. I am a Leo Chiron in the 2nd House. A Chiron in 2nd House is one who knows the feeling of low self-worth and self-value. I was very sensitive towards how others perceive me in the ways I communicate and carry myself (My Chiron sign also conjuncts my Mercury, Sun, Moon and Venus sign) and that I was not good enough. When I was wearing a back brace, I was always afraid of being called- socially awkward. Anyone with this house placement would know how it feels to fear rejections from our value system which can be different from the mass majority. This could be the way we earn/use money and skills and how we approach our self- esteem. I knew when I was 16 that I wanted to pursue marine biology and worked hard to study it in New Zealand. Right after graduation, I knew a 9-5 job did not appeal to me and I chose to become a diving instructor instead. I really wanted to show others the underwater world which meant so much to me. It was not highly paid at all and I definitely did not earn as much as my peers would do back at home but I was truly happy. Right now I have chosen to be a digital entrepreneur. Entrepreneurship is also not a path many would openly pursue. I do still have my hypersensitivities with how others view me; my decisions; my values and the way I earn and spend my money. But I have also grown to embrace this vulnerability, I have established tools and a support system who I know I can rely on no matter what.
A Chiron in the 2nd House will need to heal their rejection wounds by never invalidating their interests and having compassion for their vulnerability in asserting their value. This may be through loving oneself wholeheartedly first with self-love and reminding others to do the same. When we overcome our rejection issues, we tap into our resourcefulness and creativity and do so the same to help others. The healing journey of this vulnerability- when harnessed right, can be converted to a gift to empower others to do the same.
