Solfeggio Frequencies: Its Healing Properties and How I Integrate It Into My Life
spirituality
We live in an energetic world and New Science has proven that all sentient and non-sentient beings are made of energies, not matter as the Newtonian Physics has governed us to believe in school textbooks. We are all made of vibrations from the chair you sit on, your laptop in front of you, to the trees, the television and the person next to you.
Quantum Physics has profoundly revolutionised the way we view things and how some things are just incapable to be seen, measured, only felt. (I will discuss about Quantum Physics in another post!) Every vibration has its own frequency. Energy also responds and allows the flow of consciousness. Sound is one of the most powerful forms of energy in existence and it is healing too.
In 2018, I was at one of the lowest points in my life, if not probably the lowest. It was my spiritual awakening alongside a deep emotional pain that held me in denial. My chakras were blocked, my unbalanced energies were manifesting in my outer realities and I had a lot of healing that was much needed physically, emotionally and most of all energetically. I resumed meditation that gave me the much-needed awareness, inner peace and clear thinking. Along the journey towards healing from my trauma, I was intuitively guided by my advisor about the beauty of Solfeggio Frequencies, and have since incorporated it in my life since then.
Sound healing is an excellent, powerful yet simple self-healing tool that one can introduce earlier in their healing journey. I have since explored various forms/tools of sound healing (binaural, kundalini mantras) where the basis of vibrations and frequency are the same.
In terms of research done, one research I found particularly fascinating was the study by Dr. Grace Leslie, who is a flutist, electronic musician, and music cognition researcher. In her work, she studies the way the brain and how our body responses when exposed to a variety of musical compositions. She specifically pays attention to the way music and heart rates interact. You can read more of her work here.
so What are solfeggio frequencies?
Historically associated with meditation music used by Gregorian monks in their meditation chants in the 11th Century, the Gregorian chants were based on the original six solfeggio frequencies (396hz – 417hz – 528hz – 639hz – 741hz – 852hz). The original scale was six ascending notes assigned to Ut-Re-Mi-Fa-Sol-La. Each solfeggio tune is based on a frequency believed to influence the subconscious and conscious mind, balance your energy and stimulate healing with the Universe. From the ancient era to modern times, music has been held to have healing properties. Music is given great significance in the Bible, in Greek mythology, and even among the Greek philosophers, like Aristotle and Plato.
The numbers 3, 6, and 9 are the fundamental root vibrations of the solfeggio frequencies.
The original frequencies were believed to be lost due to the introduction of various tuning methods from the ancient times and our current modern society. Ancient tuning practices used a system of tuning known as “Just Intonation.” The technique produces a much purer sound by using pure intervals between notes that were mathematically related to small ratios. Modern society has since used a tuning method known as “Twelve-Tone Equal Temperament” from the 16th century till today. It is believed the introduced scale creates more fear-based, suppressed emotions and a lack of consciousness that are all energetically linked to manifest physical abnormalities or diseases to one.
By listening to these frequencies, we are opening our mind, body and soul to harmonise to the Universe’s tune.
Listening to different frequencies enhances the peeling of negative energetic blockages. They also encourage emotional release within us. Each tone has a specific healing ability to your energetic field and encourages ‘purging’ effects and it is possible to feel a bit off, before feeling the calm and peace after. But it is also common to feel the calm and peaceful state right after too. Do give it a listen as everyone reacts differently.
In 1974, solfeggio frequencies were rediscovered by Dr Joseph Puleo who is a physician and a herbalist. He was intuitively guided in the Book of Numbers (Hebrew bible) and through a numerological technique called the Pythagorean method of number reduction, led to the discovery of 6 repeating codes. Each syllable was thoroughly studied by Dr. Puleo and other professional researchers. David Hulse, a sound therapy pioneer with over 40 years of experience, described the tone characteristics as below:
UT – 396 Hz
Turning grief into joy, liberating guilt & fear. Associated with root chakra. Energising and vitalising. Tone of the Earth’s day.
RE – 417 Hz
Undoing situations & facilitating change. Associated with sacral chakra. Assist in removing negative past events and propelling you to move forward with change. Tone of the lunar month.
MI – 528 Hz
Transformation & miracles, repairing DNA that allows increased energy, awareness & clarity, activates spiritual enlightenment, awakening & creativity. Associated with solar plexus chakra. Tone of the Sun.
FA – 639 Hz
For improvement in any relationships, connecting with spiritual family. Associated with heart chakra. Tone of the Earth’s year.
SOL – 741 Hz
Enhances authentic expression/solutions, cleaning & solving. Associated with throat chakra. Tone of Planet Mercury.
LA – 852 Hz
Returning to spiritual order. Enhances ability to see truth in situations, people, places & things. Associated with third eye chakra. Tone of Planet Venus.
How I integrate solfeggio frequencies into my life

Trust The Flow
Sound healing is a very personal journey for me and it is a tool which I integrate consistently in my life now. I use it to harmonise my energetic field, balance my chakras, and eliminate energetic blockages. Negative limiting beliefs stem up around us or within us in daily life and it is important to recognise them and how they do not serve us. Solfeggio is one of the tools that has helped me manage them. And most of all, I derive so much inner peace, calm, healing, and growth with it. It is a huge practice of mine which expands my self-care, spiritual and personal growth. Trusting in its healing properties and intuitively integrating into your life goes further than you’d imagined.

Allow Guidance
Music has always been healing to me and it is something I cannot live without. The above videos from, PowerThoughts Meditation Club are the exact videos I personally listen whenever I feel intuitively guided to reach for. I completely dig Powerthought Meditation Club and it is always on the top of my Youtube subscription list! And I cannot encourage enough for anyone to do the same. As a person who is a firm believer of daily rituals, I like to honour my spiritual practice by integrating it into my daily rituals. And if you haven’t check them out, here are the posts on The Power of Daily Rituals and Its Difference Between Routines and My Daily Morning and Evening Rituals + 5 Tips How to Stick To It.
I listen to solfeggio pure tunes (they are just the tunes itself with no other music in it) whenever I feel like I need an extra dosage of specific energetic healing and when I am creating or studying. But most of the time, I listen to solfeggio frequencies with meditation music for evening relaxation or as a tool during my morning meditation. During travels and where I have no wifi or data, I have my solfeggio frequencies already downloaded on my Spotify. I would listen to them for a minimum of 10 minutes up to a few hours daily depending on my purpose with it.

Intuition, Creativity and Consistency
There are no specific ways in determining how to choose which tone to listen to or what sequence to follow. Rather, listen to your intuition and find what resonates with you. Usually, it is the first thing that comes to your mind that is the best choice for you. However, if you feel a specific inclination of healing needed in your life, you can decide which tunes to listen to from the above explanation. Move on when you feel tired by the specific tune and pick something else, it usually means the tune has fulfilled its purpose to you and you may reach for it again at a later stage.
You do not necessarily have to listen to it in a crossed-legged yoga-meditative position. You can do it laying down, sitting cross-legged, standing up or just whatever works for you. It is recommended that you expose yourself to these healing frequencies in normal low-energy activities such as cooking, cleaning, reading as background music. Be creative! It is also okay to fall asleep listening to it. The tone is still working its healing properties in your subconscious mind even during your sleep state. Find what works for you and your lifestyle. Solfeggio benefits children too although it is recommended to not use headphones for children under 10 years old. It is completely not necessary to use headphones though it is important to listen to them in low volume. It is however not recommended to listen to these tones whilst driving or operating any potentially hazardous activities and machinery. Any person with epilepsy should consult a medical professional before the use of the solfeggio frequencies.
A recommended of 15 minutes listening, a few times a week for 4 weeks is sufficient for you to feel the healing properties of solfeggio frequencies. I would then recommend you to sit with yourself, journal down how you feel and if you feel any differences from how you were a month ago. The idea is to find a balance to integrate it into your daily rituals and have it effortlessly integrated into your life to maximize the effectiveness and healing capabilities of solfeggio frequencies. Consistency is a must for permanent change and inner growth.

Allow Release
We are all connected in a stream of energetic field called vibrations. Sound healing works at a cellular level and works with your vibrations. It is an excellent catalyst in integrating mindfulness into your spiritual practice. Awareness of your thoughts, what emotions rise and what emotions feel suppressed, and most importantly, allowing it and not be clouded by it and letting it take over you. Often, I find myself in a space where I notice my suppressed emotions surfacing and sound healing helps me in letting them go. Even though it usually involves tears streaming from my eyes. But trust me, it is a beautiful release. And I encourage you to release, to let it go, and embrace that our individual healing takes form in many shapes, sizes, experiences, timelines and sounds.
Solfeggio is just one of the many tools of sound healing.
In my opinion, it is not the absolute and/or most superior form of meditative music for healing out there either. Solfeggio was a tool that I began with in my spiritual journey. Like you perhaps, it may be the tool that stood out first. In my journey thus far, the power of mantras as a kundalini practitioner has been immense in my healing journey too. They both remain very powerful tools in my life and a bigger practice of mine that has expanded my self-care practices and spiritual growth. Nevertheless, there are also many profound healing music out there that I would wish anyone to consider them in their healing journey. They use frequencies, lyrics, tempo, audio source and social context that are all part of the fabric of the healing properties of music. They are represented in different genres, ambient/acoustic/with lyrics, but they are all healing.
Below are a few of which I deeply adore and strongly recommend:
Our spiritual journey begins when we look inwards, instead of outwards; to heal.
And the healing comes in waves — the clarity, the integration, the de-conditioning and finally, the embodiment. I like to view the human experience as one where we incarnate on this Earth individually with our unique wounds and gifts. And life is about journeying through this path; healing these wounds —feeling them deeply, surrendering, consciously transcending, transmuting and eventually liberating them.
The dance of individual evolve-ment.
And the doorway of liberation and transformation awaits one on the other side. Solfeggio frequencies was an important healing took that helped me get to where I am today. Explore more about Your Journey Inwards here.
And if that dance comes to you, don't fight it, or resist it. Let yourself bloom.
If you feel inspired to give solfeggio frequencies a try, do let me know how it works for you. I would like to end this post with one of my favorite quote by Hermes Trismegistus,
“ As above, so below
as within, so without,
as the universe, so the soul.”
