Normalizing Rest As A Projector

Human Design, Unearthing projectorhood

One of the biggest de-conditionings that we will have to undertake as a projector exists in our relationship with rest.

As one of the most conditioned energy types in the world, I always felt that it is the duty of projectors to hone, redefine and honor our unique relationship with rest so that we can guide the other energy types in doing the same.

Unplugging

In a world driven by patriarchy, we live in a culture that celebrates and nurtures productivity over pleasure. We value success as the amount of work you accomplish, instead of whether the work excites us. It is almost abnormal if you are not working hard, doing more or producing more. If you are not working 8 hours a day, you are slacking. If you are not hustling or on the grind in traditional work, you are labeled as a lost puppy. Our culture values and perpetuates mentality like “just do it” and “no rest for the weary”. On a personal and professional level, resting is almost perceived as laziness, weakness or incompetence. However, rest is integral and fundamental for everyone regardless of their energy type. Adequate rest helps our body activate our inner healing cascade and return to a state of homeostasis. This is when your body can repair, rejuvenate and recover. Adequate rest promotes stress release, promotes creativity, strengthens relationships and our overall mental health and well-being.

As non-sacral beings (aka our sacral center is undefined), projectors have a conditioning influence to absorb and amplify the sacral, creative life force energy when we are next to sacral beings (aka all generators and manifesting generators) simply when our auras are interacting. By amplifying their sacral energy, we “borrow” and ride the wave of the sacral. When in the presence of sacral beings, one may observe themselves working harder and more intensely than sacral beings. However, we are not designed to keep up with this creative life force energy in a sustainable manner for long hours and will eventually experience the gift of a burnout. Burnout, fatigue and exhaustion are familiar themes for exhausted and disempowered projectors who are not living their design and/or exercising their strategy and authority. It happens when we try to keep up with them, their energetic blueprint, their expectations and their commitments. Burnout is often experienced when we are withdrawn from others and when we are alone in our own space.

For sacral beings, their sacral energy is powered by momentum and it is enduring energy. They are capable of sustaining it for a long period of time without breaks. However, as non-sacral beings, it is not in our nature and capacity to have this consistent, creative life force energy within us. It does not mean that we are not creative, or that we do not have any ounce of energy. We just absorb and amplify the life force energy from the rest of our environment all the time and will only be able to sustain it for a short period of time. It is all mechanics. Do note that if you are an energy projector, because of your defined motor center(s), you will have an ability to feel constant energy within that motor center(s) — which gives you a bit more energy than the other projectors (Classic and Mental projectors). But it is never as enduring as the sacral energy and rest remain fundamental to you too.

Projectors are not here to work the traditional work of 8-10 hours a day. Because of our unique energetics, we are often encouraged to work only about 4-5 hours a day, taking regular breaks and rest throughout the day to recalibrate ourselves. We are here to use our remaining time to indulge in life and our learning by relishing in what we are good at and get into it. Part of de-conditioning is recognizing and embracing that we are not designed the same way as Manifesting Generators and Generators — and loving ourselves wholeheartedly for it. Our relationship with rest is often ignored and not talked about as we grow older. In our desires to feel seen, recognized and accepted in society, we may have experienced ignoring our body’s need for rest. We may have override or mentally bypassed our inner resistances and convinced ourselves to do/be/produce/create more so as to fit in with everyone else. The end result may leave us feeling mentally drained, unappreciated and bitter.

It is important to remember that with every energy type, we all have energetic limitations and can be prone to varying degrees of burnout too. Our energy type just offers us a glance of what is in our nature, and how to engage with our energies correctly so as to open up more flow and eliminate resistance in our life. Redefining what rest means to us as projectors will allow us to guide and support others in their energetic and creative expressions too.

Below are some guiding questions in creating more intentional rest in your Projector life:

  • What does deep rest feel like to me?

  • In what ways does resting feel wrong to me?

  • How can I cultivate and dedicate more pockets of time for rest alone?

  • How do fatigue, exhaustion and burnout feel like for me? Where are the first symptoms of it arising through my body?

  • Am I answering a commitment (doing/going/producing/creating) right now based on my strategy and authority or is it because of a conditioning influence?

  • Which part of my home do I feel safe to rest? Can I dedicate a corner/couch/armchair only for rest?

  • What helps me to feel more restful? Essential oils? Blackout curtains? Instrumental music? Nature? Can I include them for my rest time?

  • How can I find enjoyable ways to discharge my energy during the day?

Rest feels different for everyone. It is a common stereotype that naps are compulsory for all projectors. Some relish in naps, others relish in listening to their favorite songs, others relish in taking a walk in the outdoors. Normalizing rest for a projector is like cultivating a love language of ours.

Resting does not mean we are weaker, incompetent or unproductive. Experiment and tweak with what works for you in terms of rest, and know that what works for you alone may not for others. Cellular renewal and transformation take time. Cultivating our relationship with rest is just another entry point to tuning into our body’s energetic wisdom. When we embrace our uniqueness and live out our projectorhood, we are able to observe through the energetic lens why rest is vital for our being—a unique container to unleash your divinity and your genius.
